December 27, 2022: Yesterday, in the late afternoon hours Local 1567 members from Group 1 responded to a multi-family home on Summer Street for a reported building fire. Upon arrival, an exterior porch fire was found. The fire had largely been contained by a quick-thinking neighbor with a fire extinguisher. The first due engine company suppressed the small remaining fire and ensured there was no extension into the home. A member of the Fire Marshal's Office arrived and conducted an origin and cause investigation.
December 26, 2022: Yesterday while many families were celebrating the Christmas holiday, your Local 1567 firefighters assigned to Group 4's Engines 2 and 4, District 1 and Truck 1 were dispatched to a home on Bonvicini Dr for a chimney fire. Members arrived quickly on scene and found that fire had extended from the chimney into the walls of the home. A 2nd alarm was requested for 14 off duty members to respond to the scene and provide city coverage. As these members were arriving at the firehouse a second fire was dispatched by Litchfield County Dispatch. Members responded to Apple Cinemas and found an extinguished popcorn machine fire with a significant smoke condition in the building. Callback members handled this incident while on duty members faced extensive overhaul to find and extinguish the fire on Bonvicini.
December 24, 2022: At approximately 1:30 this morning Local 1567 Firefighters assigned to Group 2's District 1 Engines 2 and 4 and Truck 1 were dispatched to a residence on Migeon Ave for an electrical issue with an odor of smoke in the building. During their investigation with thermal imaging cameras, firefighters found a fire in the attic. A second alarm was requested for city coverage and additional members to the scene. Members were able to quickly extinguish the fire while also battling the extreme cold.
